This amazing lampshade was custom-made for a client using fabric from John Boyd, weavers since 1837. While their horsehair fabrics typically adorn prestigious places like the National Gallery, the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries and the Royal Cresent Bath, this piece showcases their versatility. The shade's design cleverly separates traditional elements, with the outer part seamlessly joining the frame. The horsehair fabric appears to float on the bronze metalwork, while clustered lamps hang freely in the centre. A heavy chain adds drama to the suspension. Despite its unique look, this shade functions beautifully. It creates a warm glow, offers pleasing texture, and highlights patterns through clever illumination.
