Sterling Bar Lighting | Bespoke Copper Mesh Fixture at The Gherkin

For The Sterling Bar inside London’s iconic Gherkin building, Iberian Lighting was commissioned to deliver a striking bespoke light fixture that balanced creativity with technical precision. The brief called for a glowing cylindrical feature wrapped in three layers of delicate copper mesh — a material that posed unique design challenges.

Because mesh cannot be worked using standard lampshade techniques, our team engineered a custom solution. We developed a tailored frame with specially cut top and bottom plates to secure the three drum layers. At the centre, an LED light was concealed within a frosted acrylic tube, creating a warm, diffused glow while maintaining the sleek transparency of the copper mesh.

The result was a feature pendant that captured the designer’s original vision while standing up to the demands of a busy hospitality space. This project showcases Iberian Lighting’s ability to experiment with unusual materials and deliver bespoke lighting solutions
for high-profile venues. It also underlines our role in supporting standout hospitality lighting projects
across London and beyond.
