There has been a trend in lighting that we here at Iberian love, and that the move to more homely homes.

For years the stark plainness of minimalism ruled. White, cream, and grey, smooth surfaces and clean lines. No distraction, no frivolity, function and form were king.

Slowly that minimalist looks fades and colour and softness creeps in. Peoples personalities showing more in fashions, expressing ones self within the space we create around us.

The world has change a lot in the last few year and we all have found ourselves spending more time at home. Be it working from home or simply not having the money or time to be doing things outside the home.

Being home so much, the cold minimalism lost its appeal, we wanted home to be welcoming, somewhere we wanted to be, not just somewhere to keep our clothes and go to sleep.

From this desire came the return of the traditional shades, soft shapes, warm textures, patterns and colours.

And that what we are seeing this winter. Normally we only do a few traditional shades a week but this winter we have had so many orders we have had to rearrange our workshop and train up more of our team to handle the extra orders.

The pictures in this post are from just one order. These hand pleated and hand sewn shades are just lovely and exactly what we mean when we talk about a return to soft homely colour, creating a space you want to spend time in.
